We believe in a global family and that we’re all connected in some way. Our team of creatives are from all over the world. Connect with us on Twitter @iscamedia
Alex Radway
United Kingdom
Writer, Journalist, Social Media Practitioner
Alex obtained a first class degree in psychology before obtaining her Masters in Humanities. She then went on to study journalism with the London School of Journalism.
She’s a hard-working and well-respected writer whose talent and input has been instrumental in developing and growing isca media and its sites.
Alex is a latent crafter with a penchant for vintage clothes and a dislike for shopping. A lover of world cinema, world music, live jams, spoken-word and slam-poetry (as well as a history and quantum physics geek). She’s a walker, runner, dancer, stinky-cheese eater (abysmal cook) and apple fanatic – the juicy fruit, not the computer (though they’re cool too).
Her enthusiasm for Social Media and her ability to connect with artists from all over the world is an invaluable asset and has been a significant contributor in driving traffic to our various sites.
Luke James
United Kingdom
Writer, Screenwriter, Photographer, Filmmaker, Producer, Director
Luke has been working in media and contributing to magazines and newspapers for over 20 years both as a photographer and writer. With a significant background in film production and promotion, his work has appeared internationally in worldwide, major publications such as Empire and Vogue as well as numerous advertisements and film posters.
He’s worked on over 300 films, from high end blockbusters to low budget shorts and has loved every moment. With a reputation for putting people at ease, it’s not surprising Luke’s worked with some very talented and respected actors, models and artists during his time behind the camera.
Deborah Dooley
Ireland
Writer, Journalist
Deborah has written for most of the women’s weekly and monthly magazines, several health and medical publications and most of the daily newspapers. Over the years she has written on a diversity of subjects – from putting together self help booklets on life coaching, to ghost-writing a book on an alternative exercise system.
For four years she had a weekly column about alternative health for Woman’s Weekly magazine.
Charlie Quinn
Ireland
Writer, Screenwriter, Novelist
Charlie Quinn is a writer, novelist, screenwriter and enthusiastic gardener. We’re proud to have such a distinguished artist contributing on a regular basis. Charlie’s screenplays have been made into feature films and he’s worked alongside some of the finest movie actors in the business.
Sharon Heard
United Kingdom
Writer
Sharon’s a farmers’ daughter. After growing up in the rolling hills of Mid Devon on her parents traditional farm, she moved to London post-graduation in order to follow a career path in PR and subsequently the voluntary sector. Sharon’s passionate about the countryside and traditional farming and this really comes across in the tenderness of her descriptive writing.
Lesley-Ann Simpson
United Kingdom
Writer, Consultant for Making Me
Lesley-Ann describes herself as a local Devon lass, who is always finding out something exciting about one of the largest counties in the UK. Passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated, Lesley-Ann’s stories of Plymouth life captivated us and we are thrilled she’s agreed to join the team as a writer.
Having worked with local radio stations for ten years and more recently managing a regional charity (The Chestnut Appeal), she is really looking forward to adding this new chapter to her life.
Rebecca Pearce
United Kingdom
Writer, Journalist
Rebecca’s career in nature, horticulture and communicating the important issues in world-ozone depletion, carbon emissions, rainforest destruction, and sea level rise is a distinguished one. A fan of life long learning, she studied Floristry and Horticulture in the 80s, Environmental Science and Communications in the 90s and Community Enterprise in the noughties. She has worked as a Head Gardener, as Principal Environmental Advisor to the Royal Horticultural Society, and as a Sustainability Advisor, communicator, and writer for various environmental charities and Government departments.
Jordan Drew
Georgia, USA
Writer
Jordan Drew is the first of our family members from the USA and we’re delighted she’s joined us. She’s a wife and mother from Georgia who, in her time, has studied English Literature, Psychology, French & Spanish.
Drinking copious amounts of coffee has resulted in some serious insomnia for which we have absolutely no sympathy. You see, the time difference means we get to sleep when we want and Jordan is always awake when we need her. It’s perfect.
She’s never had the flu or chickenpox. Random? Yes, we concede. But we can quickly follow this up with the now, global knowledge, that she has four freckles on her forearm that form a perfect square.
Jordan states, ‘I generally write thriller type stuff. The idea I’ve been mulling over recently is a ghost story of sorts. I’ve also tried my hand at poetry, music, screenplays, and movie reviews. Pretty much if it can be written, I’m willing to try and write it; except for Romance novels. I’m not big with the whole Romance genre thing.’
We feel honoured to welcome a gem of a writer who has an honest and natural style. There are a diversity of projects we’ll be working on with Ms Drew in the near future and you can expect regular guest blogging from her too.
Ceri Richards
United Kingdom
Writer, environmental and wildlife consultant
We’re delighted to welcome Ceri Richards who’ll be a regular contributor to iwalkdevon where she’ll be telling us all about wildlife.
After graduating with an Environmental Biology degree, Ceri worked as a Consultant Ecologist in Cardiff and then in Exeter. Last year, she took a career break and it was whilst travelling she realised that if she wanted more time to write, she needed to take drastic action. So, on returning home, she decided to ‘go freelance’ and moved to rural mid-Devon.
Now, when she is not crawling about in hedgerows, looking for dormice, Ceri loves to write about wildlife, with the hope that she might inspire other people to get outside and explore the natural world.
For more information on Ceri, her work and skills visit www.richardsecology.co.uk
Judy Clement Wall
San Francisco Bay, USA
Writer, Novelist
We’ve been tweeting with Judy probably since the birth of all things isca and for those of you who follow our tweets you’ll know we have a penchant for twittering Shakespeare in the early hours of Greenwich Mean Time (with the occasional colourful parlez of Francais too) which plays hell with the sleeping pattern. But it’s worth it.
We feel blessed that anyone wants to join us, let alone buy into what we’re doing and the way we’re doing it and so it’s going to be a blast working with Judy and producing some pretty funky blogs, articles and scripts together.
Judy lives and writes in the San Francisco Bay Area. After 15 years in the semi-conductor industry and the birth of her second son, she checked out of the corporate world and back into school. Plan A (get a programming degree) was abandoned after her first fiction writing class. Plan B (write until she dies) is underway.
Her short stories and essays have been published in numerous print and online literary journals. In addition to her day job as a freelance editor, she is a fiction editor for the online literary journal Tattoo Highway and a course presenter for FearOfWriting.com.
Judy recently completed her first novel, and as she enters the (scary, maddening) wonderful world of revision, she continues to write and to actively seek new forms of creative expression. She also eats cheesecake, but doesn’t believe she has a problem. She could stop anytime. If she wanted.
Louis Dempsey
Ireland
Actor, screenwriter, writer, novelist, Filmmaker, Producer
We’re delighted to announce that actor and screenwriter, Louis Dempsey will be working closely with us on a number of exciting film and writing projects in 2010 and beyond.
The experience Louis brings to the team is amazing. With roles in Shooters, Troy and Guy Ritchie’s Revolver, Louis knows the film business. Of course, a screenwriting credit for Shooters means his talent as a writer is also a significant string to the Dempsey bow.
And it’s writing that Louis has been concentrating on. With a couple more brilliant screenplays in the bag, he’s not only writing a third, but he’s also going to be a regular contributor for isca media.
Will Foxwell
United Kingdom
Filmmaker, Film Editor, Director (Foxwell Films)
We welcome Will Foxwell to the team. Will’ll be bringing not only some cool film techniques but a wealth of experience.
Just take a look at these credits on IMDb
Born in Exeter, raised in Cheriton Fitzpaine and Brampford Speke – Will graduated in 2002 with a Degree in Professional Broadcasting from Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication
Almost 7 years working in the TV, Film and digital content industry, 3 years at a Film/TV post production house where he gained numerous film credits. 2 years at Channel 4 where Will created continuity graphics and edited promotional video clip sequences across Channel 4, E4, Film4 and More4.
He’s currently working as in-house filmmaker at Redwood, a print and online content agency where he produces branded video content across a range of clients, most notably Royal Mail, BT, Virgin media, NSPCC and Boots.
Will Foxwell is perfect for the kind of projects we’ll be taking on in the coming months. A multi-skilled filmmaker and someone who knows all elements of production – shooting, directing, editing, creation of graphics and titles as well as final delivery and encoding. If that isn’t enough, he can also oversee and work closely with external suppliers (voiceover, music production, lighting).
Sevdalina Peeva
Bulgaria
Writer
Sevdalina has a degree in chemical engineering and biotechnology so is very curious about tech and science novelties, however, as a mother of two children, she’s very sensitive to all aspects of sustainability issues that influence the standard of living and health.
She started blogging in early 2008 and since then has become addicted to it. In her country, because of the language barrier and political situation, information about renewable energy sources, clean tech, GMO foods and many topics covered in the Green blogosphere are unavailable or distorted. Her site, Greentech, has become the most popular Green site written in the Bulgarian language.
Sevdalina believes that the free exchange of information is very important for making the world a better place for all.
Xiane Sierocka-Stock
Germany
Writer
Xiane Sierocka-Stock has been writing and publishing poetry, short stories, articles and essays since the early 1980s. She is also the cofounder, writer and performer of a political satirical cabaret.
Whilst raising three children, she earned a living mainly in the fields of Adult Education and PR, as Pedagogical Role Play Practitioner (element of Drama Therapy) and Life Coach. But her eclectic pathway led her back to nature and over the years, she deepened her love for the seen and unseen phenomena around us.
For the last couple of years she’s enjoyed the simple life and creative abundance with her wife, photo artist Barbara Stock.
Xiane currently works on criminal fiction novels and tries to turn her dreams (and nightmares) into pictorial art.
Joanna D’Angelo
Canada
Writer, Producer, Director
With a Bachelor of Journalism and an MA in media and Canadian culture from Carleton University, Joanna has a solid background in media studies.
She began her varied media career at CKCU-FM (Carleton University’s campus/community radio station) where she produced, wrote and hosted several popular programs. From there Joanna worked in many aspects of print and broadcast journalism before becoming the publicist and director of development for an Ottawa-based production company where she worked for almost four years. Joanna now works on her own independent projects.
Joanna is the creator and editor of popculturedivas, a group blog that publishes five times a week and features articles about film, TV and other pop culture topics. popculturedivas boasts a roster of 27 regular contributors (including herself) from around the world – all dynamic women who are writers of fiction, film and TV. She also publishes her own blog: When I procrastinate this is the last place I’ll be.
Her background online is extensive. In March 2007, Joanna launched the group LOVE ROMANCE NOVELS onfacebook. At more than 2,700 members, it’s the largest romance fiction group on facebook. She also recently launched a sister group on Twitter Twibes that has also become the largest romance fiction group on that site. Each week, Joanna features a new release as a Revolving Book along with book giveaways and live online chats with best selling authors.
Melissa Wolfe
United Kingdom
Writer
Melissa Wolfe is a Business Writer by day; a freelance copywriter by night; and author of Finding Melissa in all the remaining minutes that she can scrape together.
Melissa gained an English Lit degree from UCL and has a strong academic history. She is now immersing herself in her passion: writing.
With a passion for literature and music, her writing covers a diverse range of subjects; complementing the more serious stuff that she gets paid to write on a daily basis. From website copy to press releases, brochure text to case studies, Melissa enjoys bringing together her language skills, working knowledge of social media, and versatile writing to support business development and communications.
Elysabeth Williams
Georgia, USA
Writer
We first met Elysabeth on the social network Twitter, and have been both an admirer of her enthusiasm and talent as well as her support and advocacy for the isca philosophy. It’s no surprise that we’re thrilled she’s joining the team and feel she adds a new dimension to our pool of skilled artists.
Elysabeth is a freelance romance, urban fantasy, science fiction and fantasy writer as well as a music reviewer. She lives in the Southeastern United States with her ‘half pint’, ‘quarter pint’ daughters, nerd-boy husband, and overworked coffee maker.
According to Elysabeth, she enjoys the internet probably a bit too much and spends an inordinate amount of time chatting with people. We like this though; chatting to people and connecting is a great thing for a writer to do and one of the reasons we feel she fits in perfectly with us.
Trillian J Bell
United Kingdom
Writer
Trillian’s sense of comedy, timing and sharp-as-a-tack wit was what attracted us to her. She’ll be a sure-fire hit writing for Film and Fly as well as working on other isca projects.
It’s no surprise that her favourite writers are Douglas Adams, Jeanette Winterson, and Neil Gaiman to name just three; and what a great selection of authors to be influenced by.
Trillian loves reading and writing poetry or prose. Blogs as ‘Trillian – the musings of an Improbabe’ (she loves playing with words), describes herself as a ‘bit of a social media enthusiast’ (which we think is an understatement) and likes hitch-hiking around the interweb.
Her other interests include an assortment of tennis, darts, athletics, nature, history, documentaries, quizzes and comedy of all kinds. She’s going to fit right at home with us then. With some amateur dramatics experience behind her, she’s inevitably developed an eclectic taste in music and films.
Rose Casanova
Chicago, USA
Writer
Rose took the road less traveled and quit high school to be on her own at the young age of fifteen. She vowed, however, to one day get a formal college education. A lover of stories, she was dedicated to making her life more exciting than the fiction she had read. After years of working as a bartender and living a life of debauchery and heavy metal, she settled down and received her Bachelor’s in English.
Another one of our fantastic finds on Twitter, we’d been chatting for a while and after a lengthy Skype, hit it off and invited her to be part of the writing team for several, diverse projects.
Rose has been committed to writing since she was ten-years old and currently lives in Chicago. She wants to be an internet socialite and would probably do anything for chocolate cake (that’s going to come back to haunt her!).
She has also been, at times, a personal assistant, options trader, singer, actress, drummer, and poker player. The poker-playing is going to come in handy, we’re sure.
Would you like to be part of isca media?
If you’d like to be part of our creative family then write to theteam@iscamedia.com and tell us more about yourself. We look forward to hearing from you.
